La Liga

Today, 24th of October 2014, Real Madrid will host Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in the Spanish Football League – La Liga.

This fixture, known as El Clasico, is considered by many to be the biggest club competition match in the world.

Some of the worlds best players will be taking part in this game, including Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez for Real Madrid, and Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez for Barcelona.

Real Madrid come into this fixture unbeaten in its last 8 matches across all competitions, including a midweek 3-0 victory away over Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.

Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 3 fixtures across all competitions, which includes a midweek 3-1 victory at home over Ajax Amsterdam in the UEFA Champions League.

Real Madrid will again be without Welsh international Gareth Bale who continues to be injured, while defender Sergio Ramos’s participation is also uncertain.

Barcelona have no major injury concerns, and new signing Luis Suarez looks set to make his debut after serving a suspension for an infamous biting incident at the 2014 World Cup.

Barcelona sit at the top of the La Liga table after 8 rounds, with Real being 4 points behind them in third place. With both teams being top class it is hard to split them, but we’ll go with Real Madrid who have the home ground advantage, and note that Barcelona lost to Paris Saint Germain, albeit away from home, 4 matches back.
