Premier League Transfer Rumours – Monday 11 August 2014

Premier League

A new week and a new bunch of Premier League transfer rumours.

Arsenal is looking at bolstering their defence by signing the out-of-sorts Daniel Agger from Liverpool.

Their attention may need to switch to other areas though with rumours that Turkish side Galatasaray have shown in interest in forward Lukas Podolsi and striker Joel Campbell.

Cardiff is making a play for midfielder Ravel Morrison of West Ham, who’s in a bit of hot water off the field over looming assault charges

Everton will be opening the door for winger Christian Astu who arrives on a season long loan from Chelsea.

Manchester City will shortly announce the signing of defender Eliaquim Mangala from Porto, in what is becoming one of the worse kept secrets going around.

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal is considering a return to the past by bringing in his former players Daley Blind, a defender from Ajax, and midfielder Kevin Strootman from Roma.

But the bigger news will be if United go ahead with a planned bid for Argentinian winger Angel di Maria, who is currently plying his trade at Real Madrid.

Newcastle is the frontrunner to sign winger Wilfried Zaha who is almost certain now to leave Manchester United.

Southampton continues to look to reverse the tide and is closing in on Florin Gardos, a centre-back from Steaua Bucharest. Left back Marcos Rojo of Sporting Lisbon is also on their radar.

Up front and the Saints are looking to take Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry on loan for a season.

Sunderland is interested in signing Will Buckely of Brighton, who has previously enjoyed a working relationship with their manager Gus Poyet.

Tottenham are also in the market for Liverpool’s Daniel Agger, and have settled on an amount to offer the Reds for his services. This comes as news of a mass clean out at White Hart Lane appears, with Michael Dawson and Younes Kaboul, both defenders, on the list of potential departures.
